So you just received a brand-new T-Mobile G2X phone for Christmas. You have had a great time playing with all the different built-in features and exploring the Internet, but wouldn’t you like to know how to start transferring some of your video, music and other files into the phone so you can access them wherever you are? Here are some of the different ways you can accomplish this goal.

Perhaps the easiest way to transfer files is through the USB cable that came with your phone. The first thing to do is to connect you phone to the USB cable, and then plug the other end of the cable to the computer. You may have to remove the phone from the T-Mobile G2X case to do this, but you should be able to leave the T-Mobile G2X screen protector in place. Once you have connected the phone to the computer with the USB cable, touch the top of the Home screen on the phone and drag it down. This should display the notifications window. Tap where it says “USB Connected”, then tap “Turn on USB Storage”, and finally tap “OK.” You should now get a notification window on your computer stating that a Removable Disk has been connected. On your computer, click where it says “Open folder to view files.” You can now drag and drop files into or out of this folder, and they will be transferred onto or off of your phone. When you’re done, just remember to tap “Turn off USB Storage” on your phone before disconnecting it from the computer.

If your PC has Bluetooth capabilities, this is another way to transfer files to your phone from it. On your phone, tap the Menu key on the Home screen. Tap on Settings, then Wireless & Networks, then Bluetooth Settings, and finally Bluetooth. This will activate the Bluetooth antenna on your phone. On your PC, activate the Bluetooth antenna and make it discoverable. On your phone, tap the button to “Scan for Devices,” then select your PC when it is found. You might have to input a password though. Unless you have already set you password, your password should be defaulted to ’123.’ After entering the password, tap “OK” and then “Pair.” You might just have to accept the pairing on the computer as well.

Now, when you deicide which file you want to transfer, just go to the phone’s Home screen and simply tap the Application Tray button. Next tap Gallery, and navigate to the file that you would like to transfer. Tap on that file to select it, and then tap Menu, then Share, and then Bluetooth. You should then be able to select the device you want to transfer the file to. And if you have a friend that also has a phone that is Bluetooth enabled, you can follow the same steps to transfer files to his phone, and from his phone. Once your file has been transferred, return to the Home screen on your phone and tap the Menu key. Then tap Settings, then Wireless & Networks, and then Bluetooth. This will then turn off the Bluetooth antenna and help you save your batteries power.

One final method of transferring files from your PC to your phone is via one of your T-Mobile G2X accessories, the SD memory card. If by chance, your computer has a compatible SD card reader that is already connected into your computer, you can turn off your phone, take the SD card out of it, and plug it directly into your reader. With the card connected in this way, it should appear as a disk on your computer, and you can freely move files on and off of the card. When you put the card back into your phone, you will be able to access the new files.

Using the information above, you should be all set to start moving files from your computer onto your phone. Whether you use the USB cable, the Bluetooth capabilities, or access the memory card directly, you should have no problem loading up your music in no time!.
