Baby Sold to buy New Mobile Phone

A young Chinese couple from the Chongqing Municipality are reported to have sold their newborn baby for 2,500 yuan (6) and then used the money to purchase a new cellphone.
The story in the Chongqing Economic times tells us that the child’s 19 year old mother, Zhang Yao, met the 21 year old father, Xin, on the internet. Their relationship developed quickly and Zhang gave birth to a health baby girl in November.
The young couple feared that they wouldn’t be able to raise the child due to lack of financial support and so they decided to sell the little girl to a man who gave his name as Li Yong.
A police investigation revealed that the child’s parents, Zhang and Xin, spent most of their time on the internet and neither were employed. Their own parents were unable to offer any help or financial support and this prompted them towward selling their little baby girl.
Both are reported to regret having sold their baby and the mother, Zhang, told police that, after the baby was sold, she kept crying and that she now wants to raise a child. The child’s father, Xin, has asked police if could retrieve the child from the welfare center where she is currently being looked after.
Welfare center staff have said that the baby is well behaved, has a healthy appetite and is not frightened by strangers.
Police in the Longsha district have said that they are planning to reunite the family and they hope to return the baby girl to her parents very soon.
Police are currently considering whether anyone can be held criminally responsible as the selling of children is a criminal offence.
This shocking story from China is just the latest in which a very young couple have found themselves facing parenthood without planning or any means of supporting their child.

Your phone is very valuable to you but to the average criminal it isnt worht much at all. Even the iphone is not worth much to a criminal when selling it on. Mind you a profit on nothing is a lot to a criminal so you can see why when they are desperate for money that they do this.
Problems
The major problem with this kind of crime is that if you own a very expensive phone then you know it could be you. The people that commit these kind of crimes do not target specific people like the older generations and women but target anyone with a fairly decent phone. Drugs are often the reason why people will steal a mobile phone, sell it on to fuel the addictiton that they have.
Too Far
Because these criminals seem to be very desperate they often will attack you ifyou do not give up the phone. Although the numbers of deaths have decreased it still happens. It mostly happens when people try to resist the mugging. The best piece of advice is to let them take it, then call up the phone company to get the phone blocked.
Protect The Phone
If you have a smart phone then there is no way people can get in to it as you can lock it with a password. It is crucial that you do this as often things like bank details and personal information are all stored within the phone itself.
So although a criminal will not be interested in fax to email or premium rate phone numbers they could be after your mobile phone so just watch yourself.
