Finding Local Takeaways Using Your IPhone
We all know the feeling of being in a new or unfamiliar city, just looking for something good to eat and all we can find is a dodgy looking McDonalds. I had it recently, walking around Nottingham’s streets trying to find a decent Chinese or Indian takeaway.
But if you’re an iPhone owner, then you don’t have to worry about this problem. A quick look on the App Store will reveal a huge number of apps geared towards finding restaurants in your vicinity, using the iPhones’ GPS to locate you.
The Around Me app is an excellent example, and allows you to find banks, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets (basically anything you might need) and then provides you with user reviews, directions and a wealth of other information on your chosen listing.
If you don’t fancy downloading an app, but you have an iPhone 3G, you can get online while out and about and go a Google search for what you’re after. For example whilst out and about, I did a quick search for ‘Chinese takeaway Nottingham‘ & ‘Indian Takeaway Nottingham‘ using the iPhones’ built-in web browser (Safari). The results were returned quickly, and i found some incredibly useful recommendations for (and directions to) decent local eateries.
If you can’t get your phone online, you could of course always try a local enquiry line, who should be able to give you suitable recommendations. For example, i called one of these lines and asked for decent Nottingham takeaways and was immediately given the number of one that the operator recommended, as they lived in Nottingham themselves.
So you can always use your phone to find a good restaurant or takeaway one way or another, and this is just one of a thousand reasons why it’s a good idea to get yourself a smartphone.
IPod Touch 8GB 3rd Generation. It Was The First IPod With Wireless Access To ITunes And The Application Store
As we all know, Apple introduced an all-round device titled – iPod Touch. The iPod Touch 8 GB allows you to get a full functional iPod, pocket computer and an surprising gaming platform combined unitedly! This device brought Multi-Touch, Accelerometer and Wi-Fi functions to marketplace of handheld devices. In broad, 3rd generations brought faster instrumentality – as well as an improved microprocessor, graphical engine and RAM storage with new functions like Voice Over and bundled earphones with a remote and microphone.
Until the Sept 2010 achievement of the iPhone 4, this was likely the only different Apple set in the (i) range that gave Steve Jobs a lot of ache. He released it intending for it to be a implementation run for a touch screen iPhone, but since he had promised an iPod, and Apple is Apple, the marketplace was not effort to let him get off with it.
It’s difficult to envisage why Apple would release a product that had deficient store, display issues, a weakened battery life and that was real pricey, but that’s precisely what they did. Swing it to rights however has borne a magnificent iPod, really the finest that it could have been.
Rehabilitations included adding applications that had been purposely left out that prefab it lower than comparable to anything Apple. They added a $20 software update, which was nearly followed by other one for $10 and started to trade the Apple iPod Touch 8GB’s gaming potentiality. They down the cost by as much as $100 dollars, and tho’ initial buyers had gripes about all the new additions and improvements, Apple managed to appeal a lot of new buyers.
They physically redesigned it for a better feel; it was more handier and such igniter, additional a plate bezel and got a battery upgrade. Most importantly, the more sought after Nike+Apple software was tangled in at no extra value, maybe a way to placate the frowning marketplace.
All things considered, the screen of the Third Generation iPod Touch is identical to preceding generations. This means that screen is prefabricated of glass, with a size of 3.5 inches and a screen resolution of 480×320 with an feature ratio of 3:2. Tho’ old iPod could be upgraded so that software could match the new one, 3rd generation Apple iPod Touch 8 GB comes with a 3.1 version of Operating System.
The 8 GB iPod Touch’s CPU has mostly improved since the 1st generation, which was initially 400 MHz up to 600 MHz in 3rd generation. Alongside this, the GPU has also developed. We can see an increase in RAM power from 128 MB to 256 MB in new iPods. Wi-Fi features, Size, Weight, Battery life and Audio Speaker are all identical to early iPod generations.
100 Yr Olds With Sizzle And The Ipad Virtual Novelty Birthday Cake…Wow!
Our world is truly amazing today. Think about how quickly technology has changed the way we celebrate and communicate.
I was reading an article the other day about one of the oldest citizen’s in Australia.
She is officially a centenarian.
She’s got a letter from the Queen, the Prime Minister and everything. Pretty impressive.
Born in 1899…Now think about how the world was in 1899 or the early 1900’s – a lot different from today – a whole lot different. We are talking about a a person who is from a generation of hard workers.
Her name is Miriam and if you work it out, she has woken to more than 40,000 new sunrises.
As the article mentions she “welcomes each day with a sense of gratitude and excitement”. She is pretty much an incredible 100 year old woman with a sharp wit and great attitude.
Plus she has not lost the appreciation of small marvels such as the pair of automatic doors that swing open to let wheelchairs through in her nursing home “Aren’t they wonderful” she states whilst being wheeled passed them by a visitor- the purr is still in her old engine.
Now I know this is a challenge question but have you ever thought what sort of cake would you want at age 100?
I was thinking about cakes and reflected that a cake or novelty birthday cake is also like Miriam’s approach to each new day it is welcomed with a sense of gratitude and excitement.
With the world being so quick to communicate and celebrate, even the simplest things like blowing out birthday candles can be transformed.
So here is a practical example.
Have you ever played around with a piece of technology and discovered something cool?.
Then whilst the candles flicker on the screen you do what every other person being given a cake with candles does….. you take a breath and blow them out.
Yes! You blow lightly across your iphone screen, the birthday candles flicker and then snuff out, followed by a sign that comes up wishing you a happy birthday.
100 year old Miriam says “Each 24 hours is a wonderful blessing”. I am of this opinion too. New things, cake, happiness, technology, communication and celebration all rolled into one.
Optimism, Resilience, Acuity at 100
…and eating cake whilst living happily at a ripe old age sounds pretty good to me.
Hmmm let me ask you?
Wonder what marvels will await us technology-wise when we are 100….
