Recently we’ve been listening quite a lot about Apple-Google battle. The biggest of the news is the replacement of Google search engine by Bing (Microsoft). If this happens, loads in the internet industry may change. That aside, there’s some issue between Google and Apple about patent rights.

I did not know this until I landed upon this little post on iphonehelp talking about the touch screen problem between Apple and Google. I had believed it was search engine that was causing the complete problem, but, no, there is more to just one problem.

Apple a short time ago had asked Google of keeping touch screen out of Nexus One. One would question why Apple doesn’t file a lawsuit instead of sending out requests to Google to not incorporate touch screen element in its first cell phone venture. The fact is Apple has no alternative other than requesting- the patent rights of touch screen aren’t quite strong. So even if Apple files a case against a manufacturer, there are good chances that Apple will suffer a loss.

There has already been good amount of conflict between Apple and Google – remember the most recent one on Google Voice on iPhone? Apple had not allowedthis app to be used on iPhone. (Read the complete account here: GV Mobile Out on Cydia Gets Google Voice on iPhone) The problems between the two big wigs are clearly seen even if they deny accepting it.

This time it is a bit difficult to anticipate anything because the two largest tech enterprises are involved in it. Before the two have also had troubles over Chrome OS. And now some legal issues over touch screen application.  Let’s see what the end result would be like. Surely not a positive one (with Google in the mobile phone industry, things will only worsen.)
