Besides the fact that handset phones are portable, they have one distinct feature that sets them apart from plain telephones: the feature that allows most of its parts to be changed or customized. Customization provides a headstart in that you don’t always need to publicly announce that something is yours. Research in our current micro-technology have made it possible to have an almost infinite number of customizations possible on handset phones. If you’re thinking up of a good customization for your mobile phones, I can suggest that you make ringtones to further personalize your phone.

Ringtones are primarily used (for those who are not from planet Earth) as an alert tone for a cellular mobile phone for different kinds of alerts, like call alerts, message alerts, e-mail alerts, and even security alerts! The signature sound that ringtones have is very different from the conventional irritating ringing sounds of legendary telephones, giving catchy tunes, melodies that you can serenely listen to (don’t forget to answer the phone), and even non-musical sounds like sounds of nature and the human voice.

Ringtones are made quite easily nowadays, thanks to the various ringtone editing programs that are accessible through most of the 2nd generation mobile phone models. However, a little musical talent may be necessary to create music properly.

Since the advent of the polyphonic ringtones and beyond, creating ringtones has now evolved from the basic 8-bit and 16-bit sounds to a melody that can now include more than one instrument, adding richness and detail to each note that emanates from the creative works of musical art. And music as it is, even I sometimes have trouble answering a phone call when one of these melodious tunes comes up (I still refuse to change my ringtone though).

Editing a ringtone for mobile phone use can now be done in PC’s, allowing for a more sophisticated ringtone editing by applications and programs that any mobile phone application cannot perfectly provide. In addition, the depth that is added to these music is so complex, that it is now officially indistinguishable from music composed (save for some technos and some playing speed and combinations that are quite impossible for the human hands to do) using actual instruments. A short warning though, any attempt of a pure novice beginner with no knowledge about music composition to create a ringtone, would most likely be met by utter letdown to the more superior and experienced composers out there.

Nonetheless, the luxury of your phone standing out among the rest is what makes ringtones very important for your mobile phone, keeping the signature in your cellular phone yours and yours alone.

Ringtones, Fitting those Tunes for Everyday Use

posted by Catt Mallen
Thursday, December 24, 2009

The reason why handsets have become so popular and have evolved into the high-level devices they are now is thanks to the modern applications that they now have that past phones could not have compared to. The ability to make one’s own unique and interesting ringtone is just one of these fantastic applications in today’s phones.

Ringtones are at one end another means of customizing a mobile phone according to how the owner prefers it best. Although the resulting melody may not be liked by all, it should at least serve its purpose of distinguishing the mobile phone from others when several phones ring. The differentiating factor that sets ringtones apart from the ring of conventional telephones of long ago is their sound signature, but there are still updated versions of these old rings available for phone downloading.

But it is at another end a necessary requirement for any kind of device that features an alarming, alerting or warning sequence features. They let the mobile phone user be informed that their mobile requires their attention because of a text message or some other matter. Regular mobile phones nowadays even allow these phones to set a number of different ringtones for each and every type of alert that your phone does, from message alert tones, to ringtones of other functional stuff such as digital alarm clock functions of mobile phones.

There is no monopolization of ingenuity, as the craftsmanship of ringtones lets one share created tones after being designed and edited through certain applications in one’s cell phone. This means that almost anyone is freely entitled and encouraged to use the ringtone maker of their mobile phones, provided that they have enough musical inclination and a little bit of fiddling with the mobile phone applications.

We can observe that the ability to make ringtones has been a feature in mobile phones even among older models before, with several expert creators being able to design 8-bit and 16-bit ringtone versions long before the discovery of MP3 tones and polyphonic tones.

Last but not the least, ringtones have become an avenue for presenting one’s creativity and sense of style through the most recent cell phone technology. Does the handset that you own give off a cool and hip, contemporary appeal? Is it your wish to make your phone sound antique in style? Want the sound of a human voice alerting you of a call or text message? Or perhaps you just need an instantaneous escape from your surroundings? No matter what the reason that you will say, ringtones will continually progress in quality and grow in variety and I would probably be unable to enumerate all the various tones available for use in various circumstances.

So, have you figured out what beautiful music to put into your phone yet?

The Growing Strength of Mobile Phones

posted by Catt Mallen
Sunday, August 16, 2009

It is not hard to believe that most people around the world (whether young or old) own a mobile phone. Studies indicate that approximately 2.7 billion of us have a mobile phone; it is also relatively easy to agree that over 80 million text messages are sent around the globe every day. It may surprise you to learn that wireless technology has been in existence since the 1940’s and is the model on which recent mobiles are based. In fact, the first public phone call with a mobile phone was made in 1973 by Martin Cooper of the company, Motorola.

It is easy to see that mobile phones and their functions have come a long way since those early days. How many of us would be lost without the myriad of functions and accessories that come as part of the present mobile phones? The truth is that the technological advances have made the mobile phone much more than an object for making phone calls.

One thing that a mobile is useful for is text messaging. This is a popular method of communication with the younger generation and many teenagers use the predictive text without even looking at the keypad. The mobile has helped us to stay in contact with friends, relatives and colleagues in a way that we have never been able to before. Perhaps in part, the text messaging facility has made us more aware that it is easy and important to stay in touch with those in our lives.

Another very popular use for phones is to listen to music. This function can be likened to having an mp3 player. You can download and store the songs that you like to listen to, plug in a set of headphones and away you go.   A popular way to download music to a mobile is to find free ringtones.   It is a way of making our mobile phone personal to you and shows others something about you as an individual. For those of us who are part of the older generation, it may also come in handy to alert you to the fact that it is our phone that is ringing, not someone else’s!

Instead of listening to the same old music, phones nowadays let us add our own stuff. A ringtone maker presents the opportunity to take songs from your own music collection and put them on your handset. You can download some special software from many sites in order to do this. It is also possible to send the music files you want directly to your handset by way of e-mail, Bluetooth and text messaging. Using the ringtone maker is straightforward to do and you will easily find website providers who have what you need. The possibility to make ringtones is appealing to many people and this application allows them to personalise their mobile even further.

In conjunction with the ringtone maker software, today’s mobile phones have a lot to offer that makes every day easy. Basic phones have practical features such as weight converters, calculators and cameras. You will find a myriad advanced handsets that offer many more tools for the owner to use. You can take advantage of tools such as GPS, currency conversion, up-to-date news and games. It is one invention that may never become extinct – indeed, it may just keep going from strength to strength.

It may not surprise you to learn that over 70 million people all over the globe have at least one mobile. With one of the many modern mobiles, it is easy to do so much more than make a easy phone call. The most modern of handsets have a myriad of applications to make the mobile phone a useful and enjoyable tool. With handsets becoming increasingly cutting edge, the more they will have to offer us each day.

Many teenagers use the modern mobile phone to download free ringtones.  Why settle for the generic tune on your mobile when you can have the latest top tune piping up when you get an incoming call? It really is that easy and fast to search and download free ringtones for your mobile.

Many phones have the facility to do this when you purchase them. The mobile provider may have a music store where you can download free ringtones instantly to your mobile. Alternatively, you can search the many sites online to find the free ringtone you want. After picking the tune you like, you can download it to a laptop or directly to your mobile phone. A few websites ask you to send a text message with a special code to confirm the tune that you want. It is then sent directly to your phone.

The websites have a whole host of songs to choose from and you are sure to locate the one that you want. It is possible to have a free ringtone that is a theme tune, funny phrase or stupid noise instead of a song.   A whole collection of free ringtones are obtainable and new ones are added every day.

You can also use the latest mobile phones to get something called free themes. This allows you to apply a design to the screen and icons on your handset. They are aesthetically pleasing and come in a range of colours, patterns and can contain your favourite characters. Free themes allow you to make your handset say something individual about you.

Some free themes can be obtained from opening the accessories store, provided by your phone company, on your handset. Find the applicable icon, browse the free themes and then apply your chosen one to your phone. As with free ringtones, free themes are readily found on the internet. You can download your chosen theme to your phone or onto a laptop. The whole method is fast and simple to do once you have found your favourite free theme.

Applying a free theme or free ringtone to mobile phones is a growing trend, especially amongst the younger generation. Remember that many older phones will not support the use of certain free ringtones or free themes; ensure your mobile can handle them before you try to download. You will find that a wide variety of modern phones support the use of free themes and free ringtones. Downloading a free ringtone or free theme is one of the great ways to enjoy your handset and save some cash too!
