Was The Samsung Epic 4G Worth The Wait?
Mobile phones are one of the most useful modern inventions. Samsung is one of the leading brands when it comes to cell phone production and innovation. And with many of the new cell phone models being associated with Samsung, it’s safe to say that there are a ton of upcoming phones with new and excited features.
Samsung recently release its Galaxy Series of phones, which includes the Vibrant, Epic 4G, Captivate and the Fascinate. All the phones under the Galaxy Series have a 1 Ghz hummingbird application processor, a 4.0 inch super amoled display with 480 x 800 display resolution, slot for micro SD which can be expanded up to 32 GB, 5.0 megapixel camera, video recording, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi capabilities. Some of the neat features of the Epic 4G includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 4G capabilities, and a front-facing camera. Samsung’s Epic 4G weighs 155 grams with a height of 124.4 mm and a width of 63.5 mm, and Sprint is the carrier. The Samsung Vibrant has the lowest weight at only 117 grams, with a height of 122.4 mm and a width of 64.5mm. Its carrier is T-Mobile. Samsung Captivate and Fascinate both have a total weight of 128 grams with a height of 106.2mm and a width of 63.5mm. Captivate’s carrier is AT&T while Verizon handles Fascinate. Captivate, Fascinate, and Vibrant are sold at $199.99 each unit, and the Epic 4G has a retail price of $249.99.
The Samsung Epic 4G is a user-friendly smart phone with a trendy design. Although the unit comes with a lot of functions, users can still improve their phones by using Samsung Epic 4G accessories. One of the most widely used accessories is the Samsung WEP870 mono and stereo Bluetooth headset, which allows consumers to receive calls either in mono or stereo mode. It also has a neutralizing microphone to provide you with a clear conversation. Another useful accessory is the screen protector to prevent dust and scratches. The anti-glare feature also improves the screen display. Micro SD is another functional accessory for your Samsung Epic 4G. The Epic 4G comes with an internal memory of 1GB, and memory cards can help expand the memory.
Chargers are indispensable cell phone accessories. Two common Samsung Epic 4G chargers are the Smartphone Experts Micro-USB car charger or the Samsung Micro-USB travel charger. These are useful for travellers who are always on the go, making it easy to charge phones in the car or anywhere an outlet is available. The Samsung Multimedia Desktop charger is another battery charger that Epic 4G owners can use. One can make a call, watch a video, and check their planner while the phone is charging.
Samsung Epic 4G cases protect the phone from damage, accidental drops, and from dirt. The Seidio Innocase surface has a solid case which securely fits the phone. Golla Sabine Smart bags have attractive and stylish designs. Phones can be safely attached to belt loops and different types of bags, and they have extra pockets are for headphones and Bluetooth sets.
The IPhone 4
Since it was launched in 2007, more than 50 million iPhones have been sold – an unprecedented number in the cell phone industry. It has broadened horizons to what cell phones are capable of and what they are used for. The iPhone 4 is claimed be the phone that will define the next generation of cell phones. So, does it live up to the hype? The first thing that you will notice about the iPhone 4 is the screen, which is a new 3.5 inch ‘Retina’ IPS LCD display. It boasts 326 pixels per inch and has an overall display resolution of 960 by 640 pixels. What does that mean in real terms? Well, it has a much higher resolution than any other cell phone currently on the market and provides the clearest images you will ever have seen on a mobile device. The annoying low battery alert will be heard far less often with the extended battery. The battery life equals seven hours of talk time (300 hours of standby), which is 40% more than the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 4 utilizes the same processor as the iPad. The processor equals or betters that of any other phone on the market and the difference is noteworthy. The operating system used is the iOS 4, which includes – for the first time – the ability to multitask. That means no more deciding whether to listen to music or check your email, as you will be able to do both, or anything else for that matter, at the same time. You can also create folders in iTunes and iBooks, which could not be done before. In fact, Apple claim that around 1500 features have been improved, modified and created in the new version of its OS, which is undoubtedly quite an improvement. The iPhone 4 possesses a camera that is leaps and bounds better than those used in previous iPhones. A 5.0 megapixel camera is found on the iPhone 4 and it is capable of recording video in HD at 720p. Apple obviously was tired of receiving complaints of the inferior cameras manufactured before. Also worthy of note is the inclusion of “Face Time.” It is the ability to place video calls, a feature that no other smartphone can claim. As for the price, it sells for around $200 on a 24 month contract in the US. Depending on who you buy it from, and which network operator you opt for, you may well be able to get yourself a better deal than that. Rather than just buying it from the first store that you see it in, why not try about a cell phone price comparison website first? Doing so takes just a few minutes and you could make yourself a nice saving.
