There have been reports, literally thousands upon thousands of reports from customer regarding their iPhone 4 signal issues. The issues that everyone is reporting have to do with a total loss of signal and data service on the iPhone 4 while browsing the internet or making a call, and in some cases when the phone is just sitting and not in use.

Everything seems to point to the way you use your iPhone, or more specifically, the way you hold your iPhone. The iPhone 4 singal, or antenna problem. While it sounds absolutely ridiculous for such an amazing device, unfortunately it is true.I use my iPhone 4 more than the average cell phone user, some days spending up to 6 hours on the phone with customers, clients and friends. When the iPhone 4 is held in the most natural way in your hands, there is a complete and total loss of all signal from the antenna and even data is not available. The signal strength goes from full signal right down to just one single bar, or worse, no signal at all with the searching message and a dropped call as your end result.

Apple has been slow to address this issue, stating only that holding it in this way will show a drop in your signal, and that the signal bar issues will be fixed in an upcoming software update, and have to do with the signal strength not actually being correct.I do however find it very hard to believe that this alone is the cause for the dropped calls on the iPhone 4, despite it being the only thing Apple will say.

There is a quick fix out there for this issue, and it has to do with having an iPhone 4 case on your iPhone. With a case on your iPhone 4 you won’t experience any of the dropped calls or antenna issues no matter how you’re holding your phone. It just shows yet again that there is something very wrong with either the design or the materials used to make the iPhone 4 itself. To be honest with you I have always been a very firm believer in protecting any gadget I have, including my iPhone 4 by putting it in a case.  It’s an expensive investment, and spending $10.00 – $20.00 on a stylish case seems like common sense to me.I certainly don’t want scratches or scuffs on my iPhone 4, but that doesn’t take away from the problem I have with this whole signal issue going on with a brand new phone.

Gizmodo states that Apple may in fact be doing some type of a silent or unannounced recall on the iPhone 4 with certain customers.  Replacing their iPhone 4 with a replacement iPhone, and the issue does not seem to be present on most of these iPhone 4’s that customers are receiving. It’s very important that I state that this recall that everyone is talking about is currently just speculation and no more than a rumor. However a number of buyers have said that this issue is just not there on their replacement iPhone 4 units.  While others continue to have a problem, unless of course, they put their iPhone 4 back in an iPhone case again.

Apple has recently launch its new generation of iPod Touch (3rd generation). Although it does come with a couple of new features, the major features of the 2nd generation iPod Touch remain unchanged. Here is a quick look at this new model to help you decide if it is worth the upgrade.

The model that we have reviewed is the iPod Touch 32GB 3rd Generation model. With its amazing portability and new feature addition the device is an improvement over excellence. The WiFi connectivity, improved accessibility, amazing Voice Control and superb graphic enhancements are the icing on the cake. The features are many and different users like it for different features. For instance its web browsing and e-mail support is liked by some while others love it as a portable gaming device and still others adore it for great old- fashioned music and video playback.

The major improvements can be witnessed in the features of the 3rd generation iPod Touch. Improvements have been made to the Genius play-list feature. Now the Genius feature is even more powerful. A Genius Mixes feature has been added to help you select a mix of songs in a play-list according to genre. All you do is sync iPod touch to iTunes, and Genius automatically searches your library to find songs that sound great together. Then it creates multiple mixes you’ll love. These mixes are like channels programmed entirely with your music.

Voice Control on the new 32 GB iPod touch gives you the ability to control music playback with spoken commands. All you need to do is to hold the headphone remote button and speak the commands into the microphone. Besides basic controls like ‘next song’ and play, you can also call out song names and the name of the artists that you wish to listen to. Voice Control knows the music in your iPod touch. Want to hear something specific? All you have to do is ask. For instance, say “Play artist Bob Dylan,” and iPod touch does just that. Ask what song is playing and hear iPod touch answer. Tell it to play your favorite album, artist, or playlist.

The new 32 GB iPod touch come with the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic. So you can reap the benefits (and the fun) of Voice Control even when your 32 GB iPod touch is tucked in your pocket or bag. To activate Voice Control using the headphones, just press and hold the center area of the remote that is built in to the cord of the headphones.

Voice Control features support for the following languages: Chinese (Cantonese), Chinese (China), Chinese (Taiwan), Dutch, English (UK), English (US), Finnish, French (Canada), French (France), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), Swedish

Unlocking Your IPhone: Is It An Excellent Idea

posted by Catt Mallen
Wednesday, July 21, 2010

We have all heard about unlocking your iPhone so that you can use a diverse SIM in it. This may be an excellent idea in particular situations. Several individuals desire to unlock their iPhone to get around making use of AT&T as their mobile phone mobile phone network. Others just desire to use the iPhone for internet and music capabilities and they do not want to use it as a phone at all. They hack the firmware to ensure that they do not have to activate the phone on any network to operate it it. Here is the question before us. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a great thought?

If you are looking to unlock your iPhone to use it on another network like T-Mobile then you might be breaking the law. It is illegal and in violation of Apple’s agreement with AT&T to use it on another network. Apple receives royalties from AT&T for every iPhone that is connected to their network. Apple loses money on every hacked iPhone. Numerous feel that it can be ok to hack the iPhone’s firmware to ensure that it can be used on another network. It’s the author’s standpoint this ethically wrong. Whether you accept AT&T and Apple’s agreement or not is up to you. If you don’t agree with it then do not use the iPhone as a mobile phone. In cases like this, I do not accept the hacking of the firmware, unless there are several other unlocked cellphones for sale.

On the other handshould you not want the high expense of AT&T’s iPhone service and you are looking to use the iPhone for its music and internet capabilities then hacking into the firmware to ensure that you do not have to activate the AT&T cell phone service is OK. You will be able to buy the iPhone and use it for the music, video and internet capabilities without needing to get connected to AT&T’s mobile phone network. It is possible to use places that give free WiFi to gain access to the internet via your iPhone. The iPod would not give you internet capabilities. Therefore, when you wish to have internet, merged with awesome content then you absolutely need an iPhone and you must not have to get expensive cell phone service to be able to enjoy the reason most folks buy an iPhone in the first place. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a good thought? In this case, yes it can be.

Then there is a third reason to hack in the firmware. This can be really in a grey area as it uses the entire capabilities on the iPhone, including making use of it as a phone. You can add Skype VOIP service for about $10 per month and then you’ve got a WiFi phone. If you are making use of the iPhone in this way and do not desire to use AT&T’s cell phone service you are still going to have to hack into the firmware so that you do not activate the telephone with AT&T. Is this in violation of the AT&T, Apple agreement? No, it is not. That agreement is for AT&T to deliver exclusive cell phone service for the iPhone. The VOIP service is not cellular phone service. Therefore, if you might be not making use of another cell phone service provider for your iPhone you might be not violating any agreement. This is another way to get close to the exclusive contract with AT&T and still be in a position to send and receive calls. The one drawback is which you have to be in an area where you can pickup a WiFi signal in order to use your Skype VOIP service.

Unlocking your iPhone, is it an excellent thought? This will depend on your own views. On one hand there are legal and ethical problems with hacking within the firmware in general. However,  your intent on why you are doing this also comes into play. Apple and AT&T have an exclusive agreement in terms of cell phone service goes. Apple doesn’t recommend the usage of any SIM card other than the one which include withd your phone but it does not specifically prohibit it either. If you bought the iPhone to work with for content and internet only or even if you want to use it being a expensive Skype VOIP phone, that is your business and you should be capable to get this done without becoming a member of expensive cell phone service you don’t need. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a good concept? Perhaps.

Useful Tips About iPhone Reviews

posted by Catt Mallen
Friday, April 30, 2010

When it comes to the problem of reading iphone reviews, it becomes vital to determine the credibility of the individual who is writing the review. That is to say, if the reviewer is not qualified to write the review then the review may be without merit. While this may seem like an overly serious assessment of requirements needed to read a review, there needs to be a clear understanding present as to why the potential customer is reading the review in the first place.

The most important reason folks read a patron review is to make the correct buying call. Considering that there’s a time and financial commitment needed for making the acquisition of the iphone, the necessity to be forewarned and forearmed is critical to a lot of people who are of limited time and resources. Briefly they peruse the iphone reviews in order to confirm they’re not making a wrong buying decision.

If the credibility of the review is in question, this will undermine the primary purpose and objective of reading the review in the first place. Of course, there are those who read consumer reviews for entertainment purposes only, but such trite casual reading is also deserved of accuracy in consumer review and reporting.

Providing iphone reviews – or any reviews for that matter – should not be treated tritely by the reviewer and there should be a clear and definite attempt to provide a quality review. If not, the formerly already mentioned undermining of the review’s purpose becomes present.

If there was a genre that movie critics disliked to review it would be the comedy genre. The reason behind this is that irrespective of how much they may hate a comedy they can not say it wasn’t an amusing film if the majority of the audience is guffawing. The point of a comedy is to make folks giggle and if it is doing then it succeeds at its purpose.

Similarly, liking or disliking a particular iphone may provide entertaining reading as some iphone reviews may serve a purpose of being little more than a vehicle for humor, but whether a person likes or dislikes the phone is irrelevant unless the liking or disliking is expanded upon to include whether or not the phone delivers on its promised service. Ultimately, this is the most important aspect of the phone – does it work or not and does it provide a functional value in concert with its cost?
